About me

I am a Specialist Wellness Counsellor, registered with the Association for Supportive Counsellors and Holistic Practitioners (ASCHP - registration number HC18/208). I am also an Addiction Counsellor, registered with the Board of Addiction Counsellors (BAPSA - M0001232) and a Certified Professional Recovery Coach. I am currently in the process of studying to become a Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapist.

I was born, raised and educated in Johannesburg. I did a BA Social Sciences, majoring in Psychology and Sociology, at the then Rand Afrikaans University (now University of Johannesburg) and followed that up with an Honours in Sociology, specialising in Family Sociology, Group Dynamics and Industrial Sociology. I did my counselling qualification through UNISA.

My special interests are inner child work, past and present trauma, addiction and addictive behaviour in all its forms and manifestations (from alcohol and drugs to food, sex, love and whatever form addiction can take), self-esteem realisation, anger management, stress and anxiety. I have a special affinity for twelve step coaching and supporting the loved ones of people with addiction issues.

I strongly believe that the power of talking is under-appreciated and not significantly utilised. All of us go through challenging and difficult times in our lives, but we can grow beyond and because of that. By talking to the right person and accepting their guidance and support, you can develop yourself into the best YOU that you want to be. I further believe that talk therapy should be backed up with somatic work, to release stress and trauma stored in the body - hence the biodynamic craniosacral therapy studies I’m currently undertaking.
