Freddie van Rensburg

I am Freddie. I am a Counsellor.

There are few things in life that bring me greater joy than to be allowed to go on a journey of personal discovery with my clients. I like to think of my office as the place where secrets come to die and where clients allow me to hold space for them to become versions of themselves whom they can love and be proud of.

I love to look my clients in the eye, take their hands and walk a path of insight and growth with them. A path where nobody judges and where all versions of ourselves are welcome. We work in an atmosphere of warmth, empathy, compassion, acceptance and complete confidentially.

  • I see myself as a client-centered psychotherapist who put my clients and their needs at the core of the therapeutic process.
  • I specialise in inner-child work, where we fetch the hurt little beings inside us, become their loving parent and give them everything they needed, but did not get when they were at their most vulnerable.
  • I am trauma-informed. I apply the belief that, in the words of Gabor Maté “it is not what happened to us that is important, but how we experienced what happened to us” that deserves our time and attention.
  • I believe in epigenetics and inter-generational trauma, that “the body keeps the score” (A book worthy of reading by Bessel van der Kolk) and that somatic (relating to the body) work is an integral part of any therapeutic journey. It is for this reason that I am in the process of qualifying as a Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapist. In the meantime, I work hands-on with clients in practical ways to assist the holy triad of body, mind and spirit to be in optimal health to support us in living our best lives possible.

I help my clients deal with stress, anxiety, depression, relationship and communication issues, drug- alcohol- sex- food- technology- and any other addiction under the sun, trauma, lack of self-esteem and anger, as well as numerous other issues not mentioned here. I love offering support to loved ones of people with addiction related issues.

My clients and I work together to explore solutions to challenging life situations. We find new perspectives on their concerns, and I provide guidance towards positive outcomes. I practically guide clients in making conscious, rational and well-informed decisions that are healthy and safe for them.

And last, but not least, as far as I possibly can, I try to make this process enjoyable. Just because it’s serious, it doesn’t mean that we cannot find joy in the work.

I do both one-on-one, couples and family sessions and I counsel both in-office and online, using Zoom, Google Meet or WhatsApp video. To make an appointment, go to Contact.
